Should the Goal of Feminism be Equal Rights?

The Italian feminist Carla Lonzi:

"The equality available to us today is not philosophical, but political: should we, after thousands of years, knowingly desire to become part of a world planned by others?

"Equality is what is offered to the victims of colonization on the level of laws and rights. And what is imposed on them on the level of culture. It is the principle by which those who exercise hegemony continue to condition those who do not."

Instead she advocated a feminism of differentiation:

"Equality is a juridical principle... Difference, however, is an existential principle concerning the modes of being human, the peculiarities of our experiences, our ends, our possibilities, our sense of existence in a variety of situations, whether given or desired."

Or, as the actress Jennifer Jones once said in an interview:

“It’s startling to read what men think of women, You build strange, high walls around us. And it’s so difficult for us to get over the walls.”

“Why get over them?” asked the reporter, “Why do women have to win?”

“We don’t. Because if we win, we lose. Once we win we’re all m
en.”

Feral Feline Femininity

My favorite kind. And my favorite ladies lately...

Jennifer Jones & Claudia Cardinale

JJ:
wife of David O Selznick, who was obsessed with representing her as an endless variety of nymphos.

CC:
born Claude Cardin.
became famous for playing CLAUUUUDIA in 8 1/2. In the trinity, Anouk Aimee is the trodden-upon perfect wife, Sandra Milo as the mistress is vulgar fleshy fun, and CC is fantasy.
